Whenever my son and I go to the pool, we always see the reflections of
the sun on the water. It looks
like white ripples in the water but it is really light from the sun.

Clouds
Because of the lack of sunlight, you can see in this picture that the
clouds are gray. Normally, the
clouds would be light when there is more sun shinning.
Cucubano
When I at my parent’s home, one thing that I enjoyed so much is
searching for “cucubanos”. The
cucubano is a tiny beetle native to Puerto Rico. The backside of this specie lights up. They also can light from the middle
area. It is fun to play on the
patio trying to catch the one that lights the most. Once again, nature gives us another source of light. La Parguera, Puerto Rico
When I was a kid, my parents took me to a beach called “La Parguera” in
Puerto Rico. It is a
bioluminescent bay in which the water glows when the microorganisms in it are
agitated. It is so spectacular how
nature works and shows us how to use techniques to light our environment. I felt like I was in the movie
“Avatar”. Please, enjoy the link: https://www.google.com/search?q=la+parguera&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=xbW3UsPPHciTkQepmYHQBg&sqi=2&ved=0CEYQsAQ&biw=1608&bih=797&dpr=0.9#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=NXw44mUkOMNReM%3A%3BgAQUnxdxI0yhpM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fblogue.voyagesbergeron.com%252Fwp-content%252Fuploads%252F2010%252F09%252F21-sept-2010-e1353000030314.png%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fblogue.voyagesbergeron.com%252Fblogue%252Fcategory%252Fplongee%252Fpage%252F3%252F%3B800%3B815
The Fire Truck
Whenever I see a fire truck go by with its red flashing lights, it makes
me feel worried. I wonder about if
somebody is hurt and if there is anyway I can help. So I immediately pull over to the side, making sure I’m
giving the fire truck enough room to go where it is going.
The Red Light
Seeing a red light when I’m driving makes me angry. I always wonder why the red light is
way longer that the green light.
In Orlando, you are always at a red light for a long time, but when the
light turns green, your turn goes by fast.
Skycrapers
Every time that my son and I go to Downtown Orlando, we always see
skyscrapers. If you think about
it, the amount of light that it takes to light the whole skyscraper, takes a
lot of energy.
Birthday Candles!
Birthday candles! When people
get ready to sing “Happy Birthday”, they always light the candles and turn out
the lights. Because of the yellow
glow, it usually just lights that area.
It makes the birthday person’s face glow. Seeing that glow on their face makes me feel happy for them!
Glow-in-the-Dark T-Shirts
I love my son’s glowing-in-the-dark t-shirts. Not only can I see him, but also it reminds me of the time
that “Ghostbusters” came out in theaters.
The Blackout
When I go to concert, my favorite part is the blackout. Because of the lack of light, you can’t
see anything. It is an exciting
introduction to the lights in the show.
Back Lights
One day I was driving the police pulled me over, because one of my back light
for my car went out. It is an
important source of light that we use everyday. Imagine people driving at night without their lights
working. People could get into car
accidents or run someone, or something over.
My Cell Phone
Instead of using a flashlight, I like to use my cell phone. Whenever I’m looking for something in
the dark, I never know where my flashlight is, but I always have my cell phone
on me. So using it is more
convenient. It is also safer to
use it at concerts than to use a lighter.
Planet Hollywood
The sign of Planet Hollywood at Downtown Disney is spelled out in red
lights. It’s easy so see from far
away because is so bright. If it
was on regular writing, we would not be able to see it because it’s night time
and so dark outside.
My Nightlights
Maybe you will laugh about this, but I use my Christmas light as a nightlight. I’m an energy saver, so I know that LED
lights uses less energy; which cost less money than regular nightlights.
Toys
Looking at my son’s Disney Infinity toys on the shelf, they remind me of
nightlights. All of them change
colors after a few seconds. They
have enough brightness to be nightlights.
My TV
Sometimes when I feel tired, I lay down on my couch and before I fall
asleep, I have to turn on the TV.
The light from the TV makes me feel safe at night.
Wawa's Gas Station
Whenever I go to the Wawa’s gas station, I feel safe because there are
so many bright lights that if anything happen to me, I know that somebody would
see. Unlike some other gas
stations, that doesn’t have much light at all.
The Moon
We are not in the dark at all…light is always present. Even when we are sleeping, there’s a
source of light that comes through the window. It’s true…we are not in the dark at all. The moon gives me company at night,
feeling safe and calm to rest.
Too Exposed
I’m too exposed to light.
That makes me sad… Why?
Every time that I’m going to my computer the screen is too bright for
me. I always have to turn down the
brightness, or else my eyes start to hurt.
My Neighbor's Balcony
Looking at my neighbor’s balcony makes me feel sad. It reminds me that it’s Christmas time
and instead of being at home with all my family members during the holidays, I need
to stay at home with my kid and wish that I could also have a balcony to put
some lights on.
Water Fountain
This is me at Plaza Las Americas in San Juan, Puerto Rico. All the people that visit this big
mall, wants to take a picture on the water fountain. The lighting design under the water fountain enhances the
modern sculpture inside, making me feel free and connected to other people’s
imagination.
St. James Cathedral, Downtown Orlando
I took this picture in St. James Cathedral at Downtown, Orlando. The lighting design inside the
Cathedral gives a soft touch on the mural painting. I feel peaceful and calm every time that I take the mass.
Picture Perfect
Light is everywhere! The
Sun as our first source of light gave me the final touch on this picture. I love the way that my son is smiling
while the Sun is reflected on the bench.
It makes me feel happy and full of joy! It’s like the Sun is also smiling to give me the perfect
shot!
The Birth of My Son
All of us human beings have experienced the first encounter with light
when we were born. I can’t tell
you about my first day, because it is something that I don’t remember. But looking at this picture when my son
was born, I can say that light is the most valuable, necessary and spectacular
thing that happens for the first time to a human being. Light welcomes life!
Puerto Rico's Coliseum "Jose Miguel Agrelot"
This is my favorite venue:
The Puerto Rico Coliseum.
It has an impressive architecture, and the lightning design invites me
to take a look at it and go inside.
It is like something really spectacular is going to happen there!

GLOW-IN-THE-DARK STARS
When my son and I moved to our apartment, I decorated the bathroom with the Spiderman's shower curtain and some “glow in the dark stars” on the walls to give some nighttime mood in that area. When he discovered the effect that the stars have in the dark after light exposure, he was amazed and wanted to keep the lights on for more exposure. Even for me is fun and beautiful to have some lights at night! It makes me feel comfortable and happy at home with my son!

After all the audio courses that I took for a year here at Full Sail,
I’m trying to focus on every visual aspect to understand how the light
functions around me. I like to
wake up early in the morning on weekends (around 7:00 a.m.) while my son is
still sleeping and seat on the sofa with a cup of coffee. The soft light that comes from my white
window curtains in the living room brings me the tranquility that I need to
start my day. Obviously, is not
the first ray of light that I see when I wake up, but is the most peaceful and
inspiring moment that I enjoy!
